Abstract

Traffic signal lights are vital for controlling traffic at busy intersections in a safe and orderly manner. Effectiveness of a traffic signal is mainly dependent on the timing pattern used. At present, in Sri Lanka only fixed time traffic signals are in operation. This means that timing for each minute of each day of the week has to be fixed in advance.
