There are more than 80 electroplating units in Sri Lanka, including household units. However, the level of electroplating technology in Sri Lanka is low, and several problems of electroplating facilities with regard to plating technology and wastewater treatment has led to surface and ground water pollution with heavy metals, at the same time reducing the profits of the industry due to loss of valuable raw materials.en_US
