- item: Conference-Full-textQi compliant wireless charging and communication for implantable devices(Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers, Inc., 2018-09) De Silva, HHH; Lakmal, SOK; Chamikara, PBJ; Gunawardana, IMKR; Chandima, DP; Samarasinghe, R; Abeygunawardana, SWireless power transmission has proven to be extremely helpful in the field of medical implants given its potential to power an implant embedded in the body wirelessly. Current studies in wireless power transmission on medical devices for implantable applications usually suggest power transfer solutions. The novelty of the proposed solution is the ability to communicate between the receiver and transmitter which enables device monitoring capability. Downlink communication to the transmitter at 2kbps is performed on the same frequency as wireless power transmission by load modulation. The design is based on considerations to the power requirements and compact size required for implantable devices. The efficiency and the operation of the designed device were tested and verified for several human tissue mimicking materials.
